Trenchless Specialist - West Chicago, Illinois
Assist the Sales Department with getting directional boring rigs to the field. This involves working with the Salesmen on customer demonstrations and after-sale training on all aspects of the directional boring process. This position will work with all departments in the company (sales/parts/service) to support the customer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Keep rigs clean, organized, and ready to head to job sites.
- If service work is required on the rig, the Trenchless Specialist will initiate that work with the Service Department and follow up and make sure the equipment is ready to go when service is finished.
- Know/learn drilling “best practices” as outlined by the Ditch Witch Factory.
- Train and work with customers on those “best practices and procedures.”
- Know/learn how to operate rigs and mud mixers.
- Know/learn key features/benefits of our rigs, and know/ learn the competition’s equipment.
- Know/learn all facets of Mud Mixing as it relates to directional boring.
- Become proficient at all aspects of Subsite Electronics, DCI Electronics and Ditch Witch Locating Equipment.
- Need to be able to lift a minimum of 75lbs.
- Ability to work outside in inclement weather for extended periods of time.
- Must have, or get a CDL/ Class A/ Tanker endorsement license and medical card.
- Acquire a set of hand tools to handle minor repairs on the job site.
- Be current with and attend all factory HDD training deemed necessary by management.
- Pass the factory’s online HDD Certification course.
- Learn and have a firm understanding of the factory’s HDD Jet Trac Simulator
- Assist Sales Representatives with the follow-up of existing customers:
- Make sure the training we provided is being utilized.
- Head off potential equipment issues before they occur.
- Promote the sale of tooling related to the directional boring rigs.
- Maintain a professional image.
- Wear steel toe boots
- Travel to our other branches when there is a need based on importance and activity level.
- Travel will usually be Monday through Friday, but occasionally weekend travel will be necessary to ensure preparation for training / demo.

Construction Equipment Mechanic - West Chicago, Illinois
Immediate opening for full time Construction Equipment Mechanic. Responsibilities will include the maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of customer equipment, primarily Ditch Witch underground construction equipment both in the shop and on customer job sites. You will be responsible for service documentation, ordering parts as necessary through the Parts Department, maintaining assigned service trucks, and travelling to customer sites. The ideal candidate will:
- Experienced applicants should have a technical or associates degree and 5 to 7 years of industry experience. Entry level applicants should have a technical degree.
- Must have strong basic computer skills and the ability to operate various software programs.
- Display a great ability to communicate with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work in order to meet deadlines and exceed customer’s expectations.
- Must be able to read and understand electrical/hydraulic systems and schematics; and utilize them to diagnose and repair equipment.
- Show knowledge of mechanical practices and principals.
- An understanding of a full range of techniques and procedures used in diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and servicing construction equipment.
- Understanding the utilization of parts look up programs, equipment manuals and service/repair manuals.
- Desire to work on equipment inside or outside in all weather and settings while continuing to better themselves as a technician and an employee.
- Knowledge and ability to perform design, fabricate, and/or modify special equipment or replacements parts utilizing arc and mig welders, torch sets, metal cutting saws, iron worker punch press and plasma cutters.

Parts Representative - Waukesha, Wisconsin
Efficiently serve customers in a courteous & cordial manner and solicit additional sales, which insure customer satisfaction and maximum efficiency for the business. Coordinate activities and cooperate with other departments of the business to best serve the needs of the customer (external and internal). Sell the company parts, labor and whole goods service at all times.
Essential Functions:
- Handle customer phone calls and walk in traffic relating to parts sales, inquires and technical assistance.
- Assist customers by properly identifying needed items by using manufacturer/vendor parts catalogs or computer business system.
- Fill customer orders, price items and print sales tickets. Handle payment arrangements at time of sale for any non-credit accounts via cash, check or credit card.
- Ensure that the customer, technician or salesman receives the correct part and on time, as promised.
- Ensure high quality level of service provided to both outside customers and internal customers.
- Study and stay current on new products, bulletins and catalogs.
- Be complete and accurate in entering all transactional information in the corporate business system in a prompt, efficient and timely manner.
- Assist in cycle counting and annual physical inventory.
- Document and correct discrepancies between inventory records and actual shelf quantities.
- Ensure all returned and warranty parts are properly tagged in order to recover full credit from the vendor.
- Assist in purchasing parts & supplies for proper inventory levels for all departments.
- Assist in handling shipping and receiving effects to ensure timely processing & delivery.
- Conform to policy on special ordering of parts.
- Assist Department Manager in development of sales promotions and seeking out new business.

Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of three years of experience in related field. Prefer mechanical and/or construction equipment knowledge.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and organizational skills. Must have the ability to multi task and make good decisions.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Computer Knowledge using MS Windows programs and familiarity with ERP & CRM systems.
- The environment is mainly inside; sometimes outside duties are required.
